As we reread The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore by William Joyce, I noticed the superb illustrations.  The first few pages of illustrations were in black and white, but then they transformed into color illustrations.  What do you think the change from black and white to color illustrations symbolize?  Why do your think that?  Find and give at least two specific examples from the book to help support your thinking.

As I read The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore by William Joyce, it reminded me of how so many stories have affected the way I view the world around me.  At first, Morris Lessmore's life seemed to be scattered, just like the letters of the words on the pages in his book.  Then one day he followed a lady to an "extraordinary building where many books apparently 'nested.'"  This was the beginning of the change for Morris' path in life.  Think of a time, event, or story that helped to change the "path that you were on."  Now describe that event and reflect on how it has helped to move you in a new direction.
